KINDLE-READSI haven’t journeyed far into the world of free kindle books {I much prefer paper books!) but in trying to organize for this coming school year Paul offered to follow a reading list with the boys if I would make him a list of free kindle books that he could work through – I was happy to comply and excited by the books I found for him to read them. Some are classics the boys have inquired about (such as Jules Vernes and Daniel Defoe) others are ones they are certain are boring (Johanna Spyri). Arthur Scott Bailey’s stories are ones we have enjoyed in the past . The last two are new to us and may be ditched from the list if they aren’t good – Paul will decide as he goes!

In our home Paul and I each have our own read alouds going on at the same time and generally we both find time throughout the day to read a little bit to them from our current chapter books. Paul prefers kindle books and I prefer paper books.

Here are the 12 free kindle books Paul will be tackling this year – not in any particular order. He is about halfway through Journey to the Center of the Earth right now.

The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling

The Tale of Solomon Owl by Arthur Scott Bailey {a list of his other books, all free for kindle}

Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

White Fang by Jack London

Bambi by Marjorie Benton Cooke

A Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Vernes

Otto of the Silver Hand by Howard Pyle

Ten Boys from History by Kate Dickinson Sweetser

Stories of Great Inventors by Hattie E Macomber
